Base on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend drying racks made from plastic or wood as they are easily broken after a couple of uses because putting too much weight on them will drastically shorten the life. However, they work perfectly for personal use. Anyway, keep the weight of wet clothes in mind.
A laundry drying rack made from heavy-duty stainless steel can be stronger and last longer. However, some of them use a low percentage of chromium as alloy element in its construction that will rust quickly, especially if you live in a coastal area, and leave stain on your clothes. If possible, do not choose low grade stainless steel. i.e. 304, 316, 321 & 347.
In my opinion, indoor laundry drying rack can be used in the winter or rainy day, especailly in new home where it is very dry in the winter, as it could use the extra humidity and save more money by turning down humidifier. But I wouldn’t recommend using drying rack indoors in the summer since you need to turn on the air conditioner to remove the humidity.
Most laundry drying racks are designed for handy storage so they are easy to assemble, even no assembly required. If your laundry room is limited, you can choose ceiling drying line or accordion models. If climate allows you to dry outside, folding frame drying rack can be a nice choice.
